Ripples form when you throw a stone into the water, the point where it touches the smooth, still surface, radiates with concentric circles. Toyo Ito drew his inspiration for the "Ripples" from this natural phenomenon.

Featuring circles rippling  outwards across the entire surface, in wood this design becomes a masterpiece, awarded with the "Compasso d'Oro in 2004.
"Ripples" is made of five differant layers of wood, skillfully sculpted into this long, narrow board are the seat impressions, which are finished entirely by hand the transition from walnut surrounding the red mahogany to warm cherry, delicate oakwood and fine ash. The sanding workmanship does not go unnoticed, as you run your hand along the surface you are aware of the smooth, continuous ups and downs in the wood.

Also available by Horm as homage to Toyo Ito, Ripples outdoor, Ripples stool, Bifronte, Ripples Table.
